Archaeological Excavation for Children

Archaeological Excavation for Children

Monday 23rd July – Friday 27th July

We are running a summer archaeological excavation by our Iron Age roundhouse. This activity will be part of the national Festival of Archaeology Fringe and will be led by archaeology expert Kim Biddulph.

Morning sessions will run from 10.15am until 1.15pm
Afternoon sessions will run from 2pm until 5pm

Children can book into as many sessions as they wish to – if they are staying for both the morning and afternoon sessions then parents will have to arrange to collect their children during the lunch hour of 1pm – 2pm as no supervision can be offered during this time.

This workshop is for children aged over 7 years.

Costs

Places on these workshops MUST be pre-booked and are charged at £10.50 for non Annual Pass holders and £5 for Annual Pass holders. (This price is inclusive of admission). Annual Pass holders must present their valid Annual Pass on the day. If parents wish to stay for the excavation activity they will also need to purchase a ticket.

If the same child wishes to attend more than one workshop, the second and any additional workshops can be added at the Annual Pass ticket holder price of £5.

Additional Information

PLEASE NOTE:

Parents can leave their children with our workshop leaders for the duration of the session, but must remain onsite at all times. Adult standard entry prices to the museum will then apply. Adults who wish to stay and take part in the session will need to book a workshop ticket. For health and safety reasons younger siblings cannot be present during the session in any capacity.

If you choose to leave your child under the supervision of the session leader for the duration of the workshop:
• You must fill out the required parental consent forms. If these are not in place before the date of your workshop then we will, regretfully, be unable to accept your child into the session.
• You must remain on site at all times and be contactable (ideally by mobile phone).
• You must drop your child to the workshop venue in good time for the start of the session and collect them at the end of the session from the same venue.

Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. In the unlikely event that the workshop does not receive the minimum number of booked places (10) we will, regretfully, have to cancel the session. In these circumstances, all those who have booked places will be notified and a full refund will be offered.
