Harvest Weekend: Traditional Rural Skills and Celebrations


Join us for a special Harvest Weekend and discover the rich traditions of our farming history. This family-friendly event is packed with live demonstrations, hands-on heritage skills, and the sights and sounds of the countryside.

Experience the sights and smells of a traditional harvest as you explore rural crafts, heritage displays, and working demonstrations.

  • Explore a traditional working farm
  • Learn about the threshing machine
  • See apple pressing in action
  • Watch our talented sheepdogs at work, skilfully herding our Oxford Down sheep
  • Enjoy the energy and colour of traditional Morris dancing.
  • Step inside Henton Chapel to see our beautiful Harvest display.
  • Watch as our traditional bakers shape and bake a magnificent harvest loaf.
  • See our blacksmith will be at work in our forge
  • Visit the Bodger’s Area in the woods, and stop by our charcoal kiln and saw pit.
  • Watch flax spinning demonstrations. material.
  • There will also be a small number of craft & produce stalls.

The Museum is a charity and all admission prices include a voluntary donation of 10%. Gift Aid donations to the Museum allow us to claim an extra 25% from the government on the total amount that you pay to us, at no extra cost to you.

Tax payers can help the Museum to reclaim, through Gift Aid, an extra 25p for every £1 paid with a voluntary donation of 10% included in the admission price.
