Pastimes and Pixels: Games Through the Ages

Step into a world of play, where games from across the centuries come together for a fun-filled day out. From traditional pastimes to retro favourites, this lively event invites visitors of all ages to get hands-on and experience how people have enjoyed their leisure time through history.

Challenge friends and family on our classic arcade machines, featuring favourites such as Space Invaders, Big Buck Hunter, Strike a Light, and more. Whether you are chasing a high score or reliving childhood memories, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Why not take things into your own hands with a go at some historic board games. Where strategy, skill and a little luck take centre stage. Learn how games have evolved over time and try your hand at traditional favourites, such as Spy Ring and Kubb that have entertained families for generations.

Step back into the 19th century with a selection of Victorian games, offering a glimpse into how people relaxed and socialised in the past. From simple amusements to curious challenges, these activities highlight the creativity of a pre-digital age.

Out on the green, enjoy a range of lawn games perfect for all ages. Test your aim, coordination and teamwork in a relaxed outdoor setting surrounded by historic buildings.

Test your skill and timing with classic fairground-style challenges, including the ever-popular Splat the Rat. Will you come out on top?

Activities take place between 10am and 5pm. For arcade machines there is a limited game time allowed per person.

This is a Standard Admission Day. Free entry for COAM Annual Members.
